Kangaroos

Kangaroos are large animals that live in parts of Australia. You can see kangaroos in zoos.

Kangaroos seem to be mammals but they are actually marsupials. Joeys and other marsupials are about a centimetre long when they are born. They cannot see and its back legs have not grown yet but it can smell and its arms are very strong. As soon as it is born it pulls itself up into its mothers pouch and finds the milk to drink. Male kangaroos are the head of the mob. A mob is a large group of kangaroos. If another kangaroo tries to overtake being the leader of the mob they both fight each other.
